Trauma & PTSD Specialty

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Who it's for

Adults, teens, and survivors carrying single-incident or chronic trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, phobias, deep-seated grief, or distressing memories that feel 'stuck.'

What it looks like

EMDR is an evidence-based, gold-standard trauma treatment recognized worldwide (WHO, APA, VA). Using gentle bilateral stimulation (such as side-to-side eye movements or alternating tactile pulses), EMDR reactivates your brain's natural information-processing system. Unlike traditional talk therapy, you don't need to describe traumatic memories in painful, exhausting detail. EMDR helps resolve the emotional charge and body distress attached to past events so you can move forward with calm and resilience.

Evidence-Based

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

Practical, empowering tools for thoughts, mood & behavior

Who it's for

Children, adolescents, and adults dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, low self-esteem, obsessive thoughts, chronic stress, or negative thought loops.

What it looks like

CBT is a practical, collaborative therapy grounded in research. It explores how our thoughts, physical sensations, feelings, and actions continually influence one another. Working side-by-side with your clinician, you'll learn to spot automatic unhelpful patterns, test assumptions, develop healthier self-talk, and build actionable coping skills you can immediately practice in daily life.

Skills-Focused

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

Emotional balance, distress tolerance & healthy boundaries

Who it's for

Teens and adults struggling with emotional overwhelm, rapid mood shifts, impulsive behaviors, self-harm urges, or intense interpersonal conflict.

What it looks like

DBT combines cognitive-behavioral principles with mindfulness and radical acceptance. It empowers you with concrete skills across four core areas: Mindfulness (grounding yourself in the present moment), Distress Tolerance (navigating painful situations without making them worse), Emotion Regulation (understanding and soothing intense feelings), and Interpersonal Effectiveness (asking for what you need and preserving self-respect).

Bilingual Clinical Evaluations

Immigration Psychological Evaluations

Collaborative, culturally grounded evaluations in English, Spanish & Portuguese

Who it's for

Immigration attorneys and individuals applying for U Visas, T Visas, VAWA petitions, Extreme Hardship Waivers, Asylum, or N-648 Medical Disability Exceptions.

What it looks like

Maria Dodds, MS, LPC conducts thorough, compassionate psychological evaluations that objectively document trauma, hardship, and mental health conditions for US immigration cases. We work collaboratively with your immigration attorney to align with legal standards while providing a warm, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed assessment in your native language (English, Spanish, or Portuguese).
